In 2012, 15-year-old Yashwitha and her friends at Montessori High School, Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh, felt that overloaded rickshaws posed safety concerns for students. They approached parents to request them to provide a safer and comfortable journey to their wards, and motivated the auto drivers to adopt safety measures. Furthermore, they requested the RTA department through a petition to take strict actions against violators, and raised funds to give gifts to the disciplined auto drivers as a token of appreciation.
